Sempervivum 'Pacific Red Tide'

 

Sempervivum 'Pacific Red Tide' (Gossett): Featuring red and green rosettes with slim leaves, this succulent has a soft, velvet-like texture. For optimal color and shape, it requires plenty of sunlight and well-draining soil or pots with drainage holes. Offsets or "chicks" are produced on stolons and can either be left to form neat clusters or removed for sharing and transplanting. These plants mainly grow during the spring and summer, but can also thrive with weekly watering and some afternoon shade if temperatures exceed 80F. Not only are they resistant to frost, but they can also withstand winter conditions when covered with a layer of snow. To prevent rot, it's important to protect them from heavy rain and standing water.
