Sempervivum 'Keiko'

This variety of Sempervivum, known as 'Keiko' (Skrocki), features a striking combination of lime green and cherry red rosettes. Not only does it add a pop of color to any garden, but it also quickly offsets to create a neat mat and fill in gaps in sunny areas. For optimal growth and color, these plants require plenty of outdoor sunlight and well-draining soils or pots with drainage holes. They are also known for producing new "chicks" or offsets on stolons, which can be either left to create tidy clusters or removed for sharing and transplanting. Sempervivum typically experience their greatest growth during the spring and summer months, needing weekly watering and afternoon shade if temperatures exceed 85F. These hardy plants can withstand frost and even thrive in winter under a blanket of snow. To prevent rot, it is important to protect them from heavy rains and standing water.
