Sempervivum 'Hairy Balls' is a type of succulent plant that forms small, compact rosettes of fleshy and furry leaves. These rosettes can grow to be up to 2 inches (5 cm) in diameter and develop a ball-like appearance with age. The leaves are a grey-green color with a creamy-white fuzz that can become more vibrant when grown in sunnier locations. With proper care and not overwatering, Sempervivums can thrive both outdoors and in containers. Once the mother plant flowers, it will naturally die, but it likely produced several offsets that will continue to grow, making it a great option for cold windows. The popular name "Hen and Chicks" comes from the plant's growth habit.
