Sempervivum Globiferum ssp. Hirtum 'Hedgehog'

 

Sempervivum globiferum ssp. hirtum 'Hedgehog' (MacPherson): This variety is known for its large size and distinctive rolling appearance. Its bright green rosette is adorned with burgundy tips on the long, spiky leaves. The rosette is dense and tightly packed, with upright and curved leaves. The round offsets grow on delicate stolons and can easily detach from the mother plant to root elsewhere. To maintain its vibrant colors and compact form, this variety requires ample outdoor sunlight. It reproduces through new offsets, which can either be left to form neat clusters or removed for sharing and transplanting. Sempervivum are most active in the spring and summer, but can thrive year-round with regular watering and some afternoon shade during hot temperatures. These plants are highly resistant to frost and can withstand harsh winter conditions, making them perfect for snowy climates.
