Notocactus apricus, also known as Parodia concinna or "Sun Cup," is a charming, sun-loving cactus native to the sandy, grassy hills of Maldonado, Uruguay, and potentially Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil . This species is characterized by its globular form, typically reaching 2 to 4 inches in height and width. Its surface is adorned with radial spines that are yellow with reddish centers, giving it a distinctive appearance. In spring and summer, it produces striking yellow flowers with red centers, adding a vibrant touch to its spiny exterior.
