Opuntia microdasys var. albospina: A necessary addition to any cactus collection, this prickly pear variety boasts pad-like stems that produce offshoots and form a compact shrub. Covered in white dots, known as glochids, these fine barbs can easily attach to skin. Atop this cactus, stunning trumpet-shaped flowers in vibrant shades of yellow to orange bloom.
Opuntia species have glochids, which are small, barbed bristles that can easily detach from the plant. When shipping, these glochids may become loose in the box and can pierce skin and leather gloves. For safe handling, use tongs.
