Opuntia engelmannii "Texas Prickly Pear" is a hardy, eye-catching cactus known for its broad, flat pads and vibrant yellow blooms that appear in spring and early summer. Native to the southwestern United States and Mexico, this drought-tolerant beauty thrives in full sun and well-draining soil, making it perfect for xeriscaping or low-maintenance gardens. Over time, it can grow into a striking, shrubby clump that adds bold texture and color to any desert-inspired landscape. Its pads may develop purple hues in cooler temperatures, and it occasionally produces edible red fruit known as "tunas."

Opuntia species have glochids, which are small, barbed bristles that can easily detach from the plant. When shipping, these glochids may become loose in the box and can pierce skin and leather gloves. For safe handling, use tongs.

Please Note: Plant will ship bare root with little to no dirt, you will receive a plant similar to the one in the photo.
