'Notocactus' orthacanthus AKA Parodia orthacanthus is typically a single stemmed, perennial succulent that has a shining lemon-yellow color, although you may occasionally find orange or reddish hues with a dark purple-red stigma. This plant is relatively easy to cultivate and flourishes in a warm, well-lit environment with partial shade. While it can withstand periods of heavy watering during its growing season, it is sensitive to excess moisture in the winter and should be kept on the drier side. Its globular shape is slightly depressed at the top, with a solitary stem that remains a beautiful dark green color, sometimes with a bluish hue. The stem is marked with longitudinal ribs that are adorned with large, well-defined tubercles. These tubercles also feature dense yellowish-white thorns that grow in a radial pattern and flatten towards the stem.
