Nepenthes, commonly known as the Monkey Cup, is a fascinating genus of tropical carnivorous plants famed for their unique pitcher-shaped leaves that trap and digest insects. Native to Southeast Asia, Madagascar, and parts of Australia, these plants thrive in humid, nutrient-poor environments by supplementing their diet through carnivory. The "cups" or pitchers are actually modified leaves filled with digestive fluid, often brightly colored and slippery, luring insects into a trap. Some species have even been observed providing water or shelter to small animals like frogs or, as the name suggests, monkeys occasionally drinking from them.
