Mammillaria haageana 'Mexican Pincushion Cactus'
Mammillaria haageana, commonly known as the Mexican Pincushion Cactus, is predominantly found in the diverse vegetation types of Mexico, spanning an altitude range of 450-2600 metres above sea level. Its habitat includes deciduous tropical forests, scrub, oak forests, and more, and it is often associated with nurse plants. However, overcollection of this species for ornamental purposes has caused local threats to its population. This cactus species can reach up to 15 cm tall and 10 cm in diameter, with a globular or elongated stem that is typically glaucous green. At the top of each stem is a complete ring of starlike pink flowers, though there may be variations among plants from different origins.
