Mammillaria Celsiana is a spherical cactus that begins as a single stem and eventually divides into multiple stems as it matures. This process can continue multiple times resulting in small clusters or even large groups with a dozen heads. The individual stems are spherical when young but become cylindrical with age, reaching heights of up to 8 inches (20 cm) and widths of up to 6 inches (15 cm). The apex of the cactus is woolly and sunken with dark green, blue-green, or grey-green coloration. The glassy white or yellow spines add to the unique appearance of this cactus. Small, crimson to rose-red flowers form a ring near the top of the cactus, with outer petals displaying a reddish-brown hue.
