Gymnocalycium chiquitanum is a small, globular cactus species native to the Chiquitania region of Bolivia, prized for its compact form and attractive flowers. It features a dark green to bluish-green body with pronounced ribs and low, rounded tubercles, each bearing short, curved spines that are relatively sparse compared to other Gymnocalycium species. This cactus is especially valued for its large, pale pink to white funnel-shaped flowers that bloom in spring or summer, often much larger than the body itself and capable of blooming at a young age. Gymnocalycium chiquitanum prefers bright, indirect sunlight, well-draining soil, and moderate watering, making it an excellent choice for windowsill collections and cactus enthusiasts seeking a small but striking specimen.
