Euphorbia ampliphylla is a striking and unique succulent native to Madagascar, known for its bold, architectural form and vibrant appearance. This species features thick, upright stems that can grow up to 3 feet tall, giving it a tree-like, branching structure. The stems are dark green with a hint of purple, and are densely covered in small, spiny protrusions, creating an almost sculptural texture. In late spring or early summer, Euphorbia ampliphylla produces small, inconspicuous flowers in a cyathium form, which are characteristic of the Euphorbia genus. While the flowers may not be the main attraction, the plant's fascinating structure and eye-catching foliage more than make up for it. This hardy succulent thrives in well-draining soil and prefers bright, indirect light, making it an ideal addition to both indoor and outdoor succulent collections in warm climates.
