Echinocactus grusonii albispinus, also referred to as white barrel cactus and white ball cactus, is a brightly-colored member of the Echinocactus grusonii species. The main distinguishing factor between this variety and the golden barrel cactus (Echinocactus grusonii) is the color of their spines: white for the white barrel cactus and yellow for the golden barrel cactus. This cactus ball has a ribbed and light green base and can reach up to 35 inches in length when fully matured. When exposed to full sun, the spines will turn a brown hue. Native to Mexico, this spherical cactus blooms in the summer and produces vibrant yellow flowers when given sufficient sunlight.

This cactus thrives in warm, indoor environments and experiences active growth in late spring and fall. It can also flourish outdoors year-round in USDA zones 9-11. For those outside of these areas, the White Barrel Cactus can be grown indoors or in pots during winter. Its incredibly low maintenance nature makes it ideal for even the busiest gardeners. During summer, watering should be done carefully to avoid sunburns and scarring, while in winter the plant should be kept dry.

Please Note: Plant will ship bare root with little to no dirt, you will receive a plant similar to the one in the photo. It is advised to handle this plant with caution and use gloves or tongs as it is covered in spines.
