Echeveria 'Red Baron'

Echeveria 'Red Baron' is a striking succulent known for its large, symmetrical rosettes and rich red to burgundy foliage. The thick, fleshy leaves often display shades of deep crimson, purple, and green, with the most intense coloration developing when the plant receives plenty of sunlight or experiences cooler temperatures. Its bold color and elegant form make it a standout choice for succulent gardens, rock landscapes, decorative containers, and mixed arrangements. In late spring to summer, mature plants may produce tall flower stalks bearing clusters of bell-shaped pink to coral flowers that attract bees and hummingbirds.

This low-maintenance succulent thrives in full sun to bright indirect light and prefers a well-draining cactus or succulent potting mix. Water deeply only when the soil has completely dried out, and reduce watering during the winter months when the plant is dormant. Like most echeverias, Echeveria 'Red Baron' is highly drought tolerant and should never be left sitting in wet soil, as excessive moisture can cause root rot. It requires minimal care and may produce offsets over time, allowing it to form attractive clusters or be propagated easily.

Echeveria 'Red Baron' is considered pet friendly. It is non-toxic to cats, dogs, and horses, making it a safe addition to homes with pets. While consuming large amounts of the leaves may occasionally cause mild digestive upset due to their fibrous texture, the plant does not contain known toxic compounds.

USDA Hardiness Zones: 9–11. In cooler climates, Echeveria 'Red Baron' is best grown in containers that can be moved indoors before freezing temperatures occur.
