Dudleya brittonii 'Giant Chalk'

Dudleya brittonii, commonly known as Giant Chalk Dudleya, is a striking California native succulent prized for its large, symmetrical rosettes of thick, pointed leaves covered in a distinctive white, powdery coating. This natural waxy coating gives the plant its beautiful chalk-white or silvery appearance and helps protect it from intense sunlight and dry conditions. Mature plants can reach approximately 1–2 feet wide and may produce tall stalks of small yellow flowers in spring and summer. It thrives in full sun to partial shade, excellent drainage, and dry conditions, making it an excellent choice for drought-tolerant landscapes and rock gardens. Pet friendly: Yes. Dudleya species are generally considered non-toxic to dogs and cats, although pets should not be encouraged to eat the plant. Hardiness zones: USDA Zones 8–10. It tolerates drought and coastal conditions well but should be protected from prolonged freezing temperatures and excessive winter moisture.
