Indigenous to South Africa, Crassula pubescens ssp. radicans, commonly known as Small Red Carpet Stonecrop, is a sprawling and dense species that thrives as a ground cover. Its oval-shaped leaves undergo a stunning color transformation from green to red when exposed to ample sunlight. While best suited for frost-free climates, this tender stonecrop can also thrive as a vibrant indoor plant. In late winter to early spring, it produces bouquets of delicate white flowers that beautifully contrast the fiery red leaves. Occasionally, tiny white or black dots may appear on the leaves, but these are actually natural pores, called "hydathodes," that help with water transfer and are not a cause for concern.
