Cheiridopsis candida
Cheiridopsis candida
Cheiridopsis candida is an attractive succulent ground cover that is often considered to be a distinct species, but is now recognized as a white ecotype of Cheiridopsis denticulata. Its smooth, whitish-grey to turquoise foliage is united to protect against the sun, and its flowers are showy, with white petals and orange rims. This perennial succulent grows in a compact, cushion-like form and has stems up to 9 cm long and 1 cm in diameter. The leaves are opposite and typically found in pairs, ranging from 2 to 6.5 cm in length. They may be fused and unevenly sized, with a triangular cross section and a smooth, slightly wrinkled surface. The plant's flowers are up to 8 cm in diameter and can be creamy-white or pale yellow with orange rims. Its stamens are numerous and its sepals are usually four or five.
