Cephalocereus senilis, commonly known as the 'Old Man Cactus' is a striking cactus recognized for its long, white, woolly spines that give it a distinctive, beard-like appearance. Native to the highland regions of Mexico, this tall, columnar cactus can grow up to 20 feet in height, though it is often seen at much smaller sizes in cultivation. Its body is a pale green, and the dense, hair-like spines cover its surface, providing both an intriguing aesthetic and protection from the harsh sun. As it matures, the spines grow longer and more abundant, enhancing its "old man" look. In summer, Cephalocereus senilis produces large, white or pinkish flowers that bloom at night, adding a burst of color to its unique form.
