Boophane disticha

Boophane disticha, part of the Amaryllis family found in sunny African grasslands, boasts a fascinating growth process. A thick woody subterranean caudex lays the foundation for its emergence, followed by thick, glaucous wavy foliage in the warm seasons. Dormant in summer, the plant springs to life a few months later with vibrant flowers on short stalks. The large, colorful umbels, reminiscent of ammocharis, range from scarlet to rosy pink tones. Do not water once the leaves have begun to yellow and it enters dormancy. Keep dry until new growth emerges. 

Please Note: Plant will ship bare root with little to no dirt, and you will receive a plant similar to the one in the photo. Be aware that the sap of this plant is toxic and should not be touched by children or pets. If you happen to come into contact with the sap while handling the plant, wash your hands right away.
