Astrophytum myriostigma 'Bishop's Cap' is a striking cactus known for its unique, star-shaped form and smooth, gray-green body. This cactus typically grows to about 8 to 12 inches in height, with a diameter of 6 to 8 inches, forming a rounded, almost flat top with five distinct ribs that radiate outward from the center, resembling the shape of a bishop's mitre, which is how it gets its common name. Its surface is often speckled with tiny white spots, giving it a silvery, textured appearance that contrasts beautifully with the dark spines that grow along the ribs. In late spring or early summer, Astrophytum myriostigma 'Bishop's Cap' produces large, bright yellow flowers with an orange center, blooming from the apex of the plant. This cactus thrives in well-drained soil and prefers full sunlight, making it an excellent addition to dry gardens, rockeries, or succulent collections. Its distinctive appearance and relatively low-maintenance nature make it a favorite among cactus enthusiasts.
