Trichodiadema bulbosum
Trichodiadema bulbosum
Trichodiadema bulbosum is a small, clump-forming succulent native to South Africa, admired for its bulbous roots and charming, daisy-like flowers. The plant forms low mats of short, cylindrical stems covered in fine, bristly hairs tipped with tiny white “crown” structures, giving it a sparkling appearance in the sunlight. Beneath the soil, Trichodiadema bulbosum develops thick, tuberous roots (caudices) that store water, allowing it to withstand long dry periods. In spring and summer, it produces bright magenta to pink flowers with yellow centers, creating a vivid contrast against its gray-green foliage. Preferring full sun, excellent drainage, and infrequent watering, Trichodiadema bulbosum is an ideal choice for rock gardens, bonsai-style displays, or collectors of miniature succulent species.
