Sansevieria hahnii ‘Ocean Star’ is a compact, eye-catching snake plant known for its short, broad leaves that form a neat, symmetrical rosette. The foliage typically features rich green coloring with attractive horizontal banding and subtle lighter markings, giving the plant a distinctive architectural appearance. Its small size makes it especially well suited for desks, shelves, windowsills, and small decorative containers. Like other snake plants, ‘Ocean Star’ is exceptionally low maintenance and tolerates low light, although brighter indirect light can encourage stronger growth and coloration. Allow the soil to dry completely between waterings and use a fast-draining soil mix. With its architectural form and air-purifying qualities, the 'Ocean Star' adds a refreshing, modern touch to any room.
Pet friendly: No. Sansevieria (now classified botanically as Dracaena) contains saponins and is considered toxic to cats and dogs if ingested. Chewing or consuming the foliage may cause vomiting, diarrhea, drooling, or other digestive irritation.
Hardiness:USDA Zones 9–11. ‘Ocean Star’ is sensitive to frost and prolonged cold temperatures. In cooler climates, it is best grown indoors or moved to a protected location when temperatures approach freezing.
