Rhipsalis ewaldiana
Rhipsalis ewaldiana
Rhipsalis ewaldiana is a unique and delicate epiphytic cactus native to the tropical rainforests of Brazil. Unlike typical desert cacti, this species features slender, branching stems that are slightly angular and green, sometimes tinged with red or purple in bright light. The stems grow in a cascading or arching habit, making it a beautiful choice for hanging baskets or mounted displays.
As a jungle cactus, Rhipsalis ewaldiana prefers bright, indirect light and thrives in warm, humid environments. It requires well-draining soil (like a mix for orchids or epiphytic plants) and regular watering, allowing the soil to partially dry out between waterings. During the growing season, it may produce small, white or pale-pink flowers, followed by tiny white or translucent berries.
This low-maintenance plant is ideal for indoor growing and brings a soft, sculptural quality to any space. Its gentle appearance and flowing form make it a favorite among collectors of rare or unusual houseplants.
