Portulacaria prostrata
Portulacaria prostrata
Portulacaria prostrata is a low-growing, trailing succulent native to South Africa, valued for its delicate appearance and hardy nature. This plant features slender, reddish stems and small, rounded green leaves that form a dense mat, making it ideal for ground cover, hanging baskets, or cascading over container edges. A relative of the more commonly known elephant bush (Portulacaria afra), Portulacaria prostrata is drought-tolerant and thrives in full sun to partial shade with well-draining soil. Its attractive foliage and compact growth habit make it a popular choice for succulent gardens, bonsai, and xeriscaping projects.
