Opuntia polyacantha 'Snow Fuzzy' is a charming and unusual variety of the prickly pear cactus, admired for its dense covering of soft, white, hair-like spines that give it a fuzzy, snow-dusted appearance. Despite its cuddly look, this cactus still packs the classic toughness of the Opuntia genus. Native to arid and high-altitude regions, 'Snow Fuzzy' is extremely cold-hardy and drought-tolerant, making it an excellent choice for xeriscaping or rock gardens in a range of climates. Its flattened, green pads are adorned with tufts of glochids and soft spines, and in late spring to early summer, it produces beautiful, bright yellow to pink flowers. This compact, low-growing cactus adds both texture and seasonal color to any desert or alpine landscape.
Opuntia species have glochids, which are small, barbed bristles that can easily detach from the plant. When shipping, these glochids may become loose in the box and can pierce skin and leather gloves. For safe handling, use tongs.
Please Note: Plant will ship bare root with little to no dirt, and you will receive a plant similar to the one in the photo.
