Pachycereus schottii monstrose, is a slow-growing cactus with multiple tall stems that branch out at the base. These stems can reach a height of 3-4 meters with a diameter of 10-12cm. It has sharp bristles on mature stems and ribbed covered in wool areoles. This species blooms nocturnally, producing greenish white flowers with a pinkish white interior and unpleasant odor. The fruits are bright red and have a red pulp, resembling strawberries. This mutation displays variably shaped ribs with raised, tubercle-like swellings along the stems. The stems grow in an ascending manner and may branch from the base or higher up, and can reach a size of 6m. The flowers are rarely seen and seeds are not well-known. In both natural and cultivated environments, the stems tend to age and weather quickly.
