Gymnocalycium tucavocensi
Gymnocalycium tucavocensi
Gymnocalycium tucavocense is a small, globular cactus native to northwestern Argentina, prized for its compact size and distinctive, ribbed body. Typically growing low to the ground, it features a grayish-green to bluish hue with pronounced tubercles and short, curved spines that give it a textured, armored look. In spring or early summer, it produces striking funnel-shaped flowers—usually pale pink to white—that contrast beautifully with its spiny body. Adapted to arid environments, Gymnocalycium tucavocense prefers well-drained soil, infrequent watering, and bright but indirect light, making it a favorite among cactus collectors and ideal for small containers or rock gardens.
