Gymnocalycium pflanzii is a globular cactus species native to Bolivia, known for its distinctive ribbed body and striking floral display. Typically growing low to the ground, this cactus has a bluish-green to gray-green epidermis and pronounced ribs divided by deep vertical grooves. Each rib is adorned with stout, slightly curved spines that range in color from white to brown. In late spring to early summer, Gymnocalycium pflanzii produces large, funnel-shaped flowers that are usually white or pale pink, adding ornamental value to its compact form. It thrives in well-drained soil with ample sunlight and is prized among collectors for its unique structure and ease of cultivation.
