Euphorbia schoenlandii is a small succulent scrub, resembling a green pineapple with its spiny tubercles. It originates from the East cape, South Africa and typically grows on open fields near the coast, with a climate of winter rain and fog and summer drought.
This plant thrives in mineral soil and requires good drainage. During summer, water sparingly and keep dry in winter. It is a long-lived, slow-growing plant. It can withstand moderate shade, but should be gradually acclimated to full sun to avoid severe sun damage.
