Eulychnia Castanea cv. varispiralis 'Unicorn Cactus' is a seldom-seen, slow-growing cactus that features stunning spiral growth in either a clockwise or counterclockwise direction. Its stems can reach heights of up to 6.5 feet (2 m) and have a diameter of 4 inches (10 cm), branching from the base. The spines are characterized by their yellow color and dark brown tips. Eulychnia is a rarity in cultivation, typically only grown by collectors with a specific interest in the genus. This plant thrives in full sun or light shade, resulting in a compact shape and vibrant, pigmented spines. Exposing it to intense light may cause it to bronze, which can promote flowering and increased spine production. On particularly hot days, providing a light shadow may be beneficial.
