Espostoa Lanata 'Peruvian Old Man'
Espostoa Lanata 'Peruvian Old Man'
Espostoa lanata, commonly known as the Peruvian Old Man Cactus, is a columnar cactus species native to the Andes Mountains of southern Ecuador and Peru. It is best known for its dense covering of long, white, wool-like hairs that protect the plant from intense sun and cold temperatures, giving it a striking, fuzzy appearance. Beneath the hairy exterior are sharp spines and ribbed green stems that can grow several feet tall over time. Espostoa lanata thrives in full sun and well-drained soil, making it ideal for arid and semi-arid gardens or as a striking container specimen. Although slow-growing, it can eventually produce nocturnal, tubular flowers when mature. Its unique texture and dramatic form make it a standout addition to cactus collections and desert landscapes.
