Cleistocactus strausii ‘Silver Torch’ is a striking columnar cactus admired for its tall, slender stems densely covered in soft, silvery-white spines that give it a frosted, shimmering appearance. As it matures, it forms elegant upright clusters that can reach impressive heights, making it a standout architectural specimen in any cactus collection. In ideal conditions, it produces narrow, tubular red flowers that emerge horizontally along the stems, adding a dramatic pop of color. During the spring and summer months, the silver torch cactus prefers moderate watering. In order to promote healthy root growth, it is recommended to water the plant deeply. During the dormant winter season, reduce watering and allow the soil to completely dry out. This cactus thrives in direct sunlight and requires 5-6 hours of exposure to bloom. It can tolerate partial shade, however, blooming may be limited. In areas with harsh sunlight, offering afternoon shade is advised to prevent overexposure.
