Cereus jamacaru 'Cuddly Cactus'

With its thick, erect branches and short woody trunk, Cereus jamacaru, also known as the 'Cuddly Cactus', can grow up to 33 feet (10 m) tall. The main stem can reach heights of 6.6 feet (2 m) and have a diameter of 2 feet (60 cm). The branches, which are blue-green and approximately 6 inches (15 cm) in diameter, have 4 to 6 ribs and 10 to 30 yellow to brown spines that are up to 0.8 inches (2 cm) in length per areole. This cactus produces white flowers that are up to 12 inches (30 cm) in length and 8 inches (20 cm) in diameter in the spring, lasting for just one night.
