Aloe marlothii 'Mountain Aloe' Large
Aloe marlothii 'Mountain Aloe' Large
Aloe marlothii ‘Mountain Aloe’ is a large, impressive succulent known for its broad rosette of thick, blue-green leaves lined with prominent reddish-brown spines along the margins and sometimes across the leaf surfaces. As it matures, this striking aloe can develop a tall, sturdy trunk and produce dramatic branching flower stalks topped with warm orange to reddish blooms. Its architectural form makes it an excellent choice for xeriscaping, rock gardens, succulent landscapes, and large outdoor containers. Provide full sun to bright light, excellent drainage, and allow the soil to dry thoroughly between waterings.
Pet friendly: No. Aloe marlothii is considered toxic to cats and dogs if ingested. The sap and plant material may cause gastrointestinal upset, including vomiting, diarrhea, or lethargy, so it should be kept away from pets that may chew on the leaves.
Hardiness: USDA Zones 9–11. Mountain Aloe prefers warm, dry conditions and is sensitive to frost and prolonged freezing temperatures. In cooler climates, it should be grown in a large container and protected indoors or in a sheltered area during cold weather.
