Aloe castillaniae 'Star Aloe'

Aloe castillaniae is a striking succulent species native to Madagascar, known for its unique appearance and hardiness. This aloe variety features narrow, lance-shaped leaves that are a vibrant green to bluish-grey color, often tinged with red or purple hues, especially when exposed to bright sunlight. The leaves are fleshy and slightly spiky along their edges, adding to the plant’s architectural beauty. Aloe castillaniae forms a rosette shape, growing in a compact and dense manner, and is particularly valued for its ornamental qualities. It thrives in well-draining soil and enjoys bright, indirect light, making it a perfect addition to both indoor and outdoor succulent collections. Like many aloes, it is drought-tolerant and can survive in arid conditions, requiring minimal care once established. However, it does need protection from frost and is best suited for regions with warm temperatures, typically in USDA hardiness zones 10-11.
