Agave 'Royal Spine' is a hybrid of Agave macroacantha and Agave victoriae-reginae 'Compacta'. Also known as Agave 'Green Steel', this small succulent has narrow, steely green leaves with dark spineless margins and a dark terminal spine. It forms rosettes that can reach up to 18 inches (45 cm) in height and 2 feet (60 cm) in diameter. This plant thrives in full sun to partial shade and can tolerate temperatures as low as 20 to 45 °F (-6.7 to 7.2 °C) in USDA hardiness zones 9a to 11b.
