Petopentia natalensis
Petopentia natalensis
Petopentia natalensis, commonly known as "Propeller vine", is a winter-dormant climbing plant originating from the Eastern Cape. This fast-growing member of the Asclepiadaceae family can reach heights of up to 8 m and is the sole species in the Petopentia genus. Its tuberous rootstock and glossy leaves make it a stunning addition to any arrangement and suitable for indoor settings. The Petopentia natalensis flower comes in shades of brown, maroon, or white and blooms in early summer. The plant also produces a large, attractive tuber above ground that efficiently stores water for extended periods. While this variety requires frequent watering during the summer months, it is important to reduce or avoid watering in the winter to prevent over-watering.
