Parodia werneri "Green Tomato"

Parodia werneri, also known as Notocactus uebelmannianus, is a cactus native to Brazil. It has a compact, spherical shape and can grow up to 4.5" tall and 6.5" wide when mature. The stem is glossy green with 12-16 rounded ribs, fuzzy areoles, and curved white spines. While rarely producing offsets, it can produce vibrant magenta flowers up to 2.0" wide on top of the stem. This cactus species is not hardy to extreme cold temperatures, but can be moved indoors and grown near a well-lit window or under a specialized grow light if the forecast calls for temperatures below 40F.
