Gymnocalycium 'friedrichii'
Gymnocalycium 'friedrichii' is a misnomer used to refer to the pink flowered variation of Gymnocalycium stenopleurum. This small cactus has distinctive markings and can vary in color from grey-green to dark grape. It is often classified with Gymnocalycium mihanovichii, but some consider it a separate species. The stem is flattened and ranges from 10-12 cm in height and 6-12 cm in diameter, with 8-14 prominent ribs. The radial spines are 3-6 in number and light to dark brown in color, while the central spines are typically absent. The flowers are pale to purplish-pink and can reach up to 7 cm in length, while the fruit is gray-green with a diameter of 1 cm.
