Echinocereus rigidissimus 'Rainbow Cactus'
Echinocereus rigidissimus 'Rainbow Cactus'
Echinocereus rigidissimus 'Rainbow Cactus'. This solitary cactus, growing up to 30 cm tall and 11 cm wide, features rare branching and offsetting and stunning pectinate radial spines that make it truly unique.
This Rainbow Cactus has spines that start off red or magenta, but fade to a soft yellow or light pink as they grow. During spring, it produces bursts of bright pink flowers with a white throat. These are followed by circular, green to dark purple fruit with white flesh and dark brown to black seeds if pollination is successful. Propagation is done by seed due to its rare offsetting.
